چکیده

Abstract The present experimental study used a successful advanced electrochemical oxidation process (AEOP) and parallel-plate reactor to investigate the potential of (EO) treatment method for real produced wastewater by Al-Samawah petroleum refinery. In oxidation, several electrodes type were employed, with carbon felt graphite plate serving as anode. Tests total organic compounds chemical oxygen demand have confirmed this. influence numerous operational factors on performance, such current density, supporting electrolyte, distance between electrodes, temperature, has been investigated, well energy consumption. After 1 hour treatment, results obtained at 40°C, 15 mA/cm 2 using anode, that COD removal was 77.509%. And TOC 68.13%, direct Electrooxidation technique 86.802%, 70.662% indirect Electrooxidation.

Treatment of Petroleum Refinery Wastewater by using UASB Reactors

Petroleum refineries discharged large amount of wastewater -during the refining processthat contains hazardous constituents that is hard to degrade. Anaerobic treatment process is well known as an efficient method to degrade high strength wastewaters. Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanker (UASB) is a common process used for various wastewater treatments. Two UASB reactors were set up and operated in...

Anaerobic Treatment of Petroleum Refinery Wastewater

Anaerobic treatment has many advantages over other biological method particularly when used to treat complex wastewater such as petroleum refinery wastewater. In this study two Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactors were operated in parallel to treat six volumetric organic loads (0.58, 1.21, 0.89, 2.34, 1.47 and 4.14 kg COD/m·d) to evaluate the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal eff...

Bioremediation of Petroleum Refinery Wastewater Effluent via Augmented Native Microbes

In Nigeria, like other developing countries, industries discharge their wastewater without effective treatment due to the high cost of existing treatment technologies. Wastewater containing petroleum hydrocarbon is highly toxic and pose a great danger to the nearby communities. Therefore, there is a need for a more robust and cost effective treatment technology. In this research, a study was ca...

SULFIDE REMOVAL FROM PETROLEUM REfiNERY WASTEWATER BY ADSORPTION ON CHEMICALLY MODIFIED ACTIVATED CARBON

Experiments were carried out to evaluate the batch adsorption of sulfur compounds from petroleum refinery wastewater on a chemically modified activated carbon (MAC). The modification technique enhances the removal capacity of carbon and therefore decreases cost-effective removal of sulfide from refinery wastewater. Different techniques have been used to characterize the modified activated carbo...
